Today was the perfect day!  A group of friends got together and we rode our horses all over the Uwharrie River Farms, enjoying the beautiful views.
Once we got back to the barn the good times continued!  We grilled out burgers made from "grass fed beef-burger" and hung out enjoying each others company.  More than one person made a new friend today.  This is what life is all about, FRIENDS AND HORSES!  ~Brock

February 16, 2008 The USERL Clinic was a great success!
Brock conducted a clinic for the United States Equine Rescue League.  He worked with a buckskin gelding mustang named Spirit that had not been worked with before.  In less than four hours he had that horse gently started under saddle.  Spirit did not want to move when Brock put the saddle on him; he thought he was "stuck".  Once Brock convinced him to move out, Spirit decided to see if he could buck that saddle off his back.  It didn't work so Spirit quickly calmed down and accepted it.  What a willing learner he turned out to be.  ~Cyana

So much is going on at the farm!  We now have four new horses boarding at the Uwharrie River Farms.  We are getting inquiries through our website daily and thank everyone who visits!  We still have room for six horses who want "full board".

We've finally broken ground on our new arena after lenghty investigation of site location and contractors. Yeah!!  This will be a great addtion for our facility.  We are looking into the possiblity of getting the sand out of the Uwharrie River that runs through the property.  I hear that "washed river sand" makes an excellent low dust arena footing.

Our trainer Brock and his wife Liesha along with their 4 year old daughter Willow are expecting an addition to their family.  I've heard it was a boy and the "Waylon" is a possible name option.   ~Cyana

There's a new farm horse at Uwharrie River Farms!  His name is Remington and what a sweet boy he is.  Remington is a 16 year old mustang gelding.  He was originally adopted from the BLM.  A man from Elon owned him for years and rode him all over the college campus.  The owner died a few years ago, and Remington then got passed from one owner to another until someone contacted Brock about the horse.  Brock saw the horse for the magnificient Mustang that he was capable of being and suggested that he would be a good fit as a farm horse.   Welcome home Remington!  We hope you have many wonderful years enjoying the beauty of the URF.  ~Cyana

The first day of the new year.  It makes you think about what you've accomplished so far, what you want to accomplish next, and whether or not you should write any "New Year's Resolutions" down.  Uwharrie River Farms has been a labor of love for me.  The sheer amount of work that has been accomplished in the last year is amazing!  We are off to a great start with Brock Griffith as our new Barn Manager and Horse Trainer.  One of our goals for the first of the year was to be ready to accept new equine boarders.  We're ready!!  ~Cyana
